Get Into Healthcare

Blog post by: Chris

This month saw us running our ‘Get Into Healthcare’ Inspiration Day. Students from Kingswood Academy & Archbishop Sentamu Academy visited the Allam Medical Building for a tour of the clinical skills department. During the tour they experienced the life of an ODP, learned about practical hygiene and had a hands-on experience of some of the equipment the facility has to offer. After a quick lunch, the students travelled to Hull Royal Infirmary to meet various members of staff and learn about their roles within the hospital community.

The purpose of this event was to give students a real-life view of working in healthcare. Being able to use the equipment and speak to members of staff gave the students a more grounded view of the reality of healthcare work. Students were also given a chance to speak to the Young Health Champions Volunteers and discover the benefits of getting involved with their programme.

A massive thanks from us to everyone who was involved with today. Hopefully it’s been useful and informative, and we’re grateful for your participation!
