What is the biggest barrier about going to University?

As part of National Careers Week, HOP attended the Skills Humber event at The Bonus Arena, Hull on 4th and 5th March. Over 3000 parents/carers, students and teachers attended over the two days.

HOP were able to give impartial advice, guidance and information about future pathways.

We also asked the important question about any barriers parents/carers and students were facing about going to University.

188 students gave their feedback and you can see the results below and many parents/carers are keen to find out more to be informed and HOP are keen to run focus groups and sessions. Get in touch at HOP.Info@hull.ac.uk if you would like to be involved or would like to find out more!

HOP stand all set up and ready!

HOP were able to engage with over 200 students, parents/carers to get their feedback to the question: What is the biggest barrier about going to University? There were three common themes about cost, wellbeing and whether going to University is the right choice. We are reacting to the responses and working on new resources to support in these key areas. We also have a dedicated HOP team that regularly visit schools and colleges across the Humber region running sessions offering advice and guidance. HOP will also be in Scunthorpe and Grimsby at their careers and pathways events this September.
