UniConnect- The Impact and the Future.

Over 1 million learners have engaged with UniConnect partnerships between 2017 and 2021 in England. Over half of all schools and colleges in England were involved with a Uni Connect partnership in 2020-21.

Uni Connect is a free service funded by the government. It helps young people – especially those from groups who are less likely to go to university – to explore routes into higher education, as well as highlighting the benefits and realities of these options.

It does this through partnerships between local universities, colleges, schools, employers and charities.

Find out more about the national Uni Connect programme and what it has to offer on the Uni Connect website.

What is Uni Connect doing?

Making a difference to young people’s lives – Greater engagement in Uni Connect activities results in learners being better informed about higher education. Sustained engagement has been shown to have a positive impact on short, medium and long-term outcomes for learners.

Supporting collaboration – Uni Connect partnerships have built lasting connections with schools and colleges by working collaboratively. Higher education providers and schools can work with Uni Connect partnerships to deliver cohesive and effective higher education outreach and attainment-raising activities.

Shaping future support for pre-16 attainment – Read the new attainment raising toolkit designed to help partnerships and higher education providers deliver effective attainment-raising interventions in partnership with schools.

Building strong, sustained, strategic partnerships between universities and schools – Schools and colleges have said that Uni Connect outreach activities are high quality and offer something different to other outreach provision in terms of its impartiality, level of support provided, range and quality of activities. UniConnect partnerships have effective networks of partnerships and relationships in their regions.
